
Originally
from Holland, Michigan, Andrew Bergeron splits his creative efforts
between composition and performance. During his Master’s
degree in composition at Michigan State University, Andrew Bergeron
composed music for a variety of ensembles including, solo guitar,
guitar and flute, electro-acoustic music and chamber music. He
received his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Philosophy from
Grand Valley State University, and has performed solo guitar recitals
throughout mid-Michigan before co-founding the flute and guitar
duo Folias. Andrew Bergeron is a member of the Grand
Rapids Guitar Quartet, and founded the Suzuki guitar department
at Grand Rapids Community College. He is a guitar instructor at
Grand Rapids Community College and at Aquinas College. Andrew
is also a tango instructor with his wife Carmen Maret in the Grand
Rapids Tango Community. Andrew is also on staff at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. |

As
a flutist, dancer and tango scholar, Carmen Maret merges music
performance with music ethnography. She studied tango as an ethnomusicology
Master’s student at Michigan State University, and produced
a Master’s thesis in 2005 that looked at tango in the Michigan
Argentine Tango club based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Before her
interest in tango, Carmen Maret specialized in performance. She
received her Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the University
of Missouri-Kansas City and her Master of Music in flute performance
from Michigan State University. Currently she teaches Suzuki flute
at Grand Rapids Community College. Carmen Maret is the founder
of the Grand Rapids Tango Community
where she works as a tango teacher and tango musician. Carmen
Maret, is also the manager for Folias, and a promotions agent
for Blue Griffin Recording based in Lansing, Michigan. |
