This month we performed three new pieces that Andrew wrote last year. The pieces were written for our new quintet with Chris Martin on violin/viola, Joel Sheckman on clarinets, Chris Lawerence on trumpet/flugelhorn and Carmen and Andrew on flute and guitar. We scheduled 3 gigs with the finale at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. The GRAM gig was packed with family, students, friends, and art lovers. The music definitely matched the eco-modern space. The new piece, “The Border Trilogy” is inspired by the U.S. southwest and by borders of music, country, instrument, styles, and thought. Many thanks to Chris, Chris, and Joel for learning the music.
