North Cascades Return

Practicing in Stehekin
During the Viewpoints tour we went to the North Cascades National Park for a nice one week break from the road. We left the car behind on the shores of Lake Chelan and got on a boat named The Lady of the Lake. It was a 55 mile ride to the town of Stehekin — population 80.
After 8,000 miles of driving it felt great to leave the car behind and we were exciting to stay in the same place for a few days.
Three years ago, we spent 21 days in Stehekin doing a composing residency hosted by a ranger named Mark Scherer. This year we took up Mark’s offer to come back and spend time at a cabin writing music and giving a performance in Stehekin.
We spent the week composing, practicing, hiking, biking, performing and cooking in this uninterrupted wilderness.
