Spring Snow Live at Hope College

In early March of 2013 it was way past time to get started and finish a solo guitar piece for a recital at Hope College of all Michigan guitarist composers playing their own pieces. In order to get myself in a place of solitude required for the task I rented a cabin in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness in the far western U.P. of Michigan. To get to the cabin it was a 9 hour drive and then a 10 kilometer ski in. With my guitar on my back and my clothes, food, and water on my front I skied in to the union river cabin and spent 3 nights by myself with no electricity or running water and wrote music and skied many kilometers. The piece Spring Snow was composed entirely in the time spent at the cabin. When my time was up I skied out and retuned to the city and spent the next month learning the piece on guitar for the premier. Here is a video of a performance of Spring Snow at Hope College in October of 2014.
