mile 1,000: Packed house at The Monkey. Gourmet dinner plus dance in Lincoln. Sleeping at Grandmas. Smart crowd in Boulder! Eating in Denver with good old friends.
mile 2,000: Cooking with Fernandez Chili Company products in Alamosa, CO. Sleeping next to a river on the CO/NM border. Waking up to a bluebird sky. Hauling bootie to a radio interview in Albuquerque by 4pm. Playing in two gorgeous towns: Taos and Corrales.
mile 3,000: Tango, food and dancing in downtown Salt Lake. Sleeping in the Wasatch watershed under amazing spruces. 2 days in a row of dancing tango in Boise. Hanging with the fam.
mile 4,000: Sleeping in an aspen grove south of Moab. Spanish Tapas in Santa Fe. Chic crowd. Practicing for Jeremy and Leah’s cat Howl. Epic picnic near Truth or Consequences. 100+ degree gig in Las Cruces with no A/C!
mile 5,000: German beer in Fredericksburg, TX! Jamming at Luckenbach. Shannie. Interview for Classical Guitar Alive. Thanks Tony. Playing twice to a super cool tango community in Austin. 3 gourmet meals a day cooked by Denis and Deena.
mile 6,000: Drive 10 hours from Austin to KC then play an 8pm gig. Breakfast with my favorite flute teacher. Drive to Wisconsin. Dinner with Tony and Jen. Bumming around state street Madison. Italian Workmen’s club.
mile 7,000: Home in GR for two days. All day fixing the toilet. And then the spring on the front door. Trimed the grapes. Dinner with Avik’s epic paella in Ann Arbor. Crazy packed dancing. Border crossings no problems. Milongas in Buffalo and Cleveland.
mile 8,000: Few days break staying in a rustic cabin with Avik in Southern PA on the Appalachain Trail. Great views. Homemade ice-cream after the show at Spinozas.
mile 9,000: Drive to Houghton, MI. 6 hour boat ride to Isle Royale NP. Backpacking the rustic minong ridge for 4 nights. 75 people at the concert in Rock Harbor. Grilling pizzas on the island with Pat and Liz. Jamming at Blackrocks. Amazing sound at the Orpheum. Chilling with Chris at the Mckeever Cabin with a gig at Falling Rock. Eating smoked herring at the straits with Chris. House Concert at Rhubarbary. Maureen’s fancy food on the terrace. Dancing in Traverse City. Performing with a favorite former student in Manistee. Final send off at White Lake Chamber Fest.
